Local vs. global marketplace

Local marketplaces operate solely inside a single geographic region, whereas global marketplaces do business on a global scale. There is a spectrum between local and global, with hyperlocal marketplaces servicing small, local communities on one end and global marketplaces with supply and demand from across the globe on the other end. There are a great number of marketplaces that are located somewhere in the center, for example, in a few cities, states, or countries.

When it comes to certain marketplaces, such as those selling digital products or providing jobs remotely, location might not even be a consideration at all. Location and reach are two crucial factors to think about when it comes to platforms that offer goods shipping or in-person jobs.

Beginning on the local level is a smart move to make if your market is location-dependent. Having a more specific regional emphasis makes it easier to discover liquidity faster.
